just got back from meeting with sally to work out problems with methodology and theory (connecting my quiz to developmental concepts).
>>Using James Marcia's Four Identity Statuses (based on Erickson's Identity Crisis Theory) I will create a scale that will determine my results.<<
The Four Identity Statuses: 1. Identity Diffused/Confused - No identity crisis 2. Foreclosed - No crisis, but has made commitments to beliefs/vocations based on parents opinions. No fundamental questioning. 3. Moratorium - Acute crisis. Active searching for beliefs. 4. Identity Achieved
I'm going to combine the first 2 to create 3 separate categories (no crisis, crisis, and resolved crisis).
More on this later....now off to work on my paper some more.

The 'meme' type quizzes seem to have a rather bland, unappealing look and rely upon input of one (or few) pieces of data which then determine a list of outcomes. The results are often humorous and random, more for entertainment, and have little insight into 'the real you'. However it is fun to see the coincidences that occur occasionally.
Quizilla quizzes, however, are based more on a (thoughful) input, answering a series of questions that are more focused on the end result. The incentive to take these quizzes is typically a picture and meaningful (or entertaining) description. This type of quiz is more of an icon with which to represent oneself than the 'meme' variety.

This 'quizlet' tells you just how popular it is. Similar to MemeGen in format.

the difference between MemeGen and Quizilla is that the actual quiz taking happens within the journal, rather than offsite. This quiz is not actually a 'quiz' as the results are dependent on only one item of information

Where Does Your Beauty Lie? ..::Original Pictures Are Back! Detailed Results::.. 1.We'll start with some basics. What are you seen typically wearing? 2.Alright then. Next, what kind of make-up or accessories do you normally wear? 3.Excellent, now when you're walking down the street about how many people do you notice looking your way? 4.Okay, now if you could be anywhere in the world, where would you be? 5.Pick a group of words that describe you. 6.This is the last question. Now what did you think and...will you rate/message me?
( possible ) I can't link to the accompanying pictures, and I wouldn't want to, they're huge!

I have currently written about 5 pages of my paper in one fell swoop, and I'm realizing I may have bitten off more than I can chew, trying to address blog and quiz culture (not to mention surveys, which are very different than quizzes) in one paper.
I'm going to do some preliminary research into the types of questions that are asked on Quizilla, Bzoink, and MemeGen's most popular quizzes to see if they address adolescent themes - identity, philosophy, romance, trust, will (which really aren't just specific to adolescents. huh).

This is a for my ideas/successes/failures and notes during the work on my final project for Graphic Contagion, Viral Media.
Right now I am working on updating the proposal website I created for class on 11/4. The new site will include all my research material from my childhood studies paper, links, and a more concrete definition of my implementation strategy.
Once I finish writing my research proposal for childhood studies it will be available on my page.
